QUOTE(cpie433 @ Jul 27 2010, 05:39 PM) I would probably do it, especially not knowing if or when welker is going to play. However I would try and upgrade at RB, if u can. I love rice, moreno isn't bad, bu I am not sold on brown or addai. I would like to start 3 RB in your format. So maybe throw in the colts RBs and get a RB in return if he has a good one. What is his roster?
His core RB's consist of P.Thomas, C.Portis, Caddy, and some prospects (nothing all that exciting) And i like the duo of Addai/Brown more than any of the RB's he has so that hasnt been an option. His WR's are R.Wayne (I just traded him to that owner) S.Smith (NYG), Colston...the rest is garbage that i would eventually drop.

I agree, I like addai, brown better than those guys as well. I like colston a lot in the deal, wspecially with no ppr, but in dynasty 3 and 4 rounders you are prob not going to get much, correct? I might wait to see how welker does if/when he comes off the pup list.

QUOTE(Prime Time @ Jul 27 2010, 10:30 PM) I'd have a tough time with that one Rob (even though no PPR) I love Welker and together with Smith I think you are giving up too much? How about putting in Braylon Edwards also and getting back his Steve Smith (NYG)?
So you give Welker, Steve Smith (CAR) and Braylon Edwards
for Colston + Steve Smith (NYG)
??
Hmm, whats funny is me and this other owner have for the most part traded our WR's completely from last yr, and i wouldnt mind getting Smith back. Good idea. He hates Braylon as much as ive ever seen Braylon hate...(cuz id never trade him to him) Ima try it. Basically im in this situation from my previous trade with that owner, where i gave up Wayne for Welker, Smith + some other pieces including what WILL be pick 1.01 next yr. FNL hit the nail on the head about how i really feel about the players in this deal. Never been a huge Non PPR Welker fan, and see Smith on his last legs (or arm if you will)

It's funny. I just mentioned to you that I think you should try and make the trade bigger. I can understand why you'd consider doing this. If I included every dyno team I have in my sig, you'd see Colston a few more times. The only downside to Colston is the competition he has for catches. Brees spreads the ball around quite well and the Saints have a lot of options on offense. Reggie Bush, PT, the other WRs and the TEs. But that doesn't mean that Colston isn't the one you want to have on that team. Brees and Colston should be together for a few more years. Since the other team apparently doesn't have a 1st or 2nd round pick, I like Bill's idea. You've got the depth to take a chance on Colston. But it would be better if you could get a little something instead of a 3rd and 4th. And Bill.. I told you Welker would be good to go a few months ago. If you want to make a move for Welker in the GEDL ( team 1 in my sig )... get on it.

That's kinda tough. Welker's injury wouldn't concern me because it was a freak accident and he is still only 29 years old this season. I also understand his decreased value in a no-PPR system. Smith has a few strong years left in him, and I would expect him to have better games with M Moore instead of J Delhomme.
Essentially you would be consolidating Welker and Smith into one stronger WR. Your depth doesn't look fantastic (Mike Williams and Mike Thomas are nice), but you certainly wouldn't be hurting.
I typically have one personal rule for trades, in which I basically pass on deals that I feel are even or don't benefit me. This trade seems relatively even, and with Colston's penchant for being occasionally inconsistent (when Brees spreads the ball around), I don't think it will benefit you. Your roster appears to have the players to make a good Championship run this year, and to be strong for the next couple years. If you consolidate Smith and Welker into Colston, all it would take is one injury to a starting WR to cripple your chances for a title this season.
I would agree to try to squeeze the other owner for a bit more by adding other players into the deal to give you more value. If the trade falls through, I would suggest trying to acquire Edelman as the handcuff to Welker.

QUOTE(Wrathman @ Jul 28 2010, 11:53 AM) I also lean towards making the deal. Can you get a better 2012 pick than the 2011 picks offered?
Unfortunately no, but i got the feeling the longer i wait...the sweeter the deal gets anyways, he will have made 5 more trades by end of training camp, and ill get a better deal
